Hello and welcome to my website! I’m Jo, founder of and trainer at Back in the Saddle Training. As a Horse-Human Relationship Trainer, my focus is on helping anyone who is serious about having a better relationship with a horse. I work with men and women of all ages so that they can have an independent seat and have a good relationship with horses. I also specialize in the needs of the 40 and older horsewoman because, well, I’m a 40+ horsewoman myself. Who better to understand the issues you’re facing? I offer a wide variety of services for the older horsewoman, including helping you select the right horse for you, addressing fear issues that you didn’t have when you were younger, helping you learn to ride or develop a better partnership with your horse without judgment or criticism if you are a heavier rider, acknowledging health issues and teaching you ways to be comfortable while riding, helping you get back in the saddle no matter how long you’ve been away from horses, and more.
I teach everything from groundwork to riding. Nothing will make you a better rider than learning to ride properly and doing it! I teach the concepts of balance, center and connection to everyone I train. I focus on teaching you how to have an independent seat, no matter what discipline you ride. Having an independent seat means you will learn to ride with subtle aids, you will learn to ride without depending on your reins and stirrups, and you will have a secure seat that gives you confidence and keeps you safe. I teach in a fun, informative, non-judgmental format, whether it’s in a private lesson or a clinic. Having an independent seat – one developed through balance, center, and connection – creates a better relationship with your horse. It gives you the ability to learn what the elusive concepts of “feel” and “timing” are all about.
I teach lessons out of Plane View Farm in Erie, CO. We have a wonderful facility with a large indoor arena and outdoor arenas. You can use a lesson horse or trailer-in your own horse. I train people in all disciplines, at all levels and with all breeds because I focus on the relationship between horse and human.
Call (720-442-1343) or email me to discuss lessons. I also am available, on a limited basis due to time constraints, to consult on horse-human relationship projects and to speak about my work on the horse-human relationship.
Thanks and enjoy exploring my website!
